After the Costa Brava in April and the Pyrenees in September, the Brama Stage Run has been the culmination of the stage races organised by BiFree Sports, this time with 3 magnificent stages in the Eastern Pyrenees, with Ribes de Freser as the nerve centre.
The sun shone on the Serra Cavallera as all the Brama Stage Run categories set off from Ribes de Freser to take on the final day of the 2nd edition of the race. Excitement was in the air as the runners prepared to conquer the region's most iconic peaks and enjoy an exceptional day with the barbecue that awaited them at the finish line.
The BRAMA100K took on a demanding 32km route with 2200m of positive gradient, crowning Puig Cerverís (2208m), Puig Estela (2013m) and the famous Taga (2040m). The BRAMA80K, meanwhile, covered 26km with 1600m of gradient, with a new route to Coll de Pal and also climbing Taga. Finally, for the BRAMA60K it was 16km with 1200m. The final descent from Taga is known for being one of the most demanding of the race, with a final stretch of more than 1000m of descent in less than 6km, and which the 3 modalities do together to reach the finish line in Ribes de Freser.
Marc Serra, a participant in the BRAMA, comments that “the truth is that we have really enjoyed the 3 days, the routes each day are in a different area and with spectacular views, and the organization takes into account every detail, so you can't ask for anything more.” In addition, a concert enlivened the Saturday afternoon and at the final finish line all the “Finishers” of the race were given a medal, and a barbecue awaited all the participants, turning the day into a celebration of camaraderie and shared effort.
The final positions of the general classification were decided throughout the three stages, but all the runners went all out in the third stage to have the last opportunity to climb positions.
In the BRAMA100K Jelle Matheus (11h 13’) and Aitana Domenech (15h 15’) were the winners of the Brama Stage Run 2024, followed by Alex Urbina and Miquel Henderickx in the men’s category and by Aletta Van Starrenburg and Guacimara Suarez in the women’s category.
In the women’s category of the BRAMA80K distance, Cristina Fargas (10h 35’) led and won, followed by Jennifer Garcia and Aleksandra Legosteva. As for the men’s category, Wannes Swinnen (8h 9’) was the winner, followed by Martin Pariente and Xevi Guinovart.
And the shortest of all, but fast too! In the BRAMA60K, Marc Serra (6h 4’) and Lea Kaufmannn (7h 37’) won. Gaston Valle and Anaelle Massol finished in second place, and Antoni Garcia and Juliette Fievet in third. Although all the runners showed what they are capable of.
We would like to thank all the agents involved in the organisation of this event, from the sponsors to the local institutions that have supported the Brama Stage Run. The organisation is very satisfied with this second edition and is already thinking about the third, with the aim of continuing to improve and offering an unforgettable experience for everyone.
