After a good ski mountaineering season, Catalan athlete Mireia Miró will spend her summer season promoting outdoors sports and its values among kids, as well as discovering new sensations and challenges. She will also take time to consider her goals for the next ski season and get ready for it. Mireia Miró said: “I am going to profit of the summer to do all those things I never had time to do and also to prepare new projects. I will take it easy so I can be in good shape for next season”. I am very happy for my results in the winter season. This is my third year in the highest level and I’ve achieved something difficult: stay on the top for all this time, and this is always challenging”.

Catalan athlete MireiaMiró finished in May a wonderful ski mountaineering season. Since then she has enjoyed of some days off, allowing her to consider the goals for this summer season.

The athlete summed up the season in a positive way. She won a silver medal in the world championships in Pelvoux, as well as three victories teaming up with Laëtitia Roux in the Grande Course circuit (Altitoy, PierraMenta and Adamello). With those three victories, the duo leads the classification of this 2-year ski competition. In addition, Mireia was in the podium ofthree races of the World Cup, even though it was not one of her main goals this season. Besides, Mireia won again the Spanish championship in Boi. “I am very happy for my results in the winter season. This is my third year in the highest level and I’ve achieved something difficult: stay on the top for all this time, and this is always challenging”, Miró commented.

As a result of that, Miró has decided to take the summer season serenely in order to be able to correctly prepare the next season and also to have the opportunity to work on some new projects.

One of the first things has been a series of speeches in different schools. Miró has introduced to the students her experience as an elite athlete as well as the values that have inspired her during this time. There has been a warm welcome among the students and Miróconsidered it was a very positive experience: “The talks are oriented to teenagers, a period where they experiment a lot of changes and doubts. I wanted to show them that everyone has its own ability to express themselves, in every possible way, that is possible to fight for their dreams, but they need to put effort and constancy to achieve it.I think mine is a good example, on how a girl from Barcelona can become a ski mountaineering world champion”.

On the other hand, Miró has decided not to set up a fixed schedule of competitions for this summer: “This year I have no calendar. I have been combining summer and winter seasons for two years now and these charges in both a mental and physical way, as you can never really stop thinking on competition and training. I felt I needed to slow down a bit and have a flexible schedule, so I can prepare the next season and recover myself. For this, I don’t have any goals this summer, and depending on how I will be feeling I will take part in some races during the summer. I am also very excited as I am preparing new projects and challenges and this keeps me very motivated”.
