• Patrick Kipngeno (Run2gether On Trail) produces a spectacular comeback to finish second in Muju and in the overall standings, with the title decided by just two points: 1,130 for Elazzaoui to the Kenyan's 1,128.
• Salomon wins the inaugural GTWS team ranking after also taking the team victory in Muju, capping a thrilling 2026 season in which the title battles remained wide open until the final race.

Muju Trail, the 2026 Golden Trail World Series (GTWS) Grand Finale in South Korea, has crowned a new star. Andrea Kolbeinsdóttir (Salomon) claimed her first victory on the circuit with an outstanding display of talent, strength and adaptability on one of the most technical and demanding courses in the history of the competition: 28.6 kilometres with 2,313 metres of elevation gain, made even tougher by the rain.

Just a few minutes later, Madalina Florea (Scott) crossed the finish line in second place with another reason to celebrate: the result saw her retain her GTWS overall title.

Mexico's Miriam Morales (México Imparable) completed the podium in Muju with an impressive third place. The Grand Finale also left the other two podium positions in the overall standings unchanged, with Caroline Kimutai (Salomon) ending the season in second place and Ruth Gitonga (Run2Gether On Trail) taking third.

• The Golden Trail World Series return to the Great Wall of China for one of the most spectacular and iconic races of the season, where the world's trail running elite will take on a unique course shaped by centuries of history at one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
• The Jinshanling Great Wall Trail Race will provide the final opportunity for athletes to collect valuable points ahead of the Muju Trail Grand Finale (South Korea) and will feature a record prize purse of €40,800, reinforcing the GTWS commitment to supporting the continued growth and development of trail running across Asia.
• "The GTWS has significantly increased the international profile of the race, allowing elite athletes, media and trail running fans from around the world to discover Jinshanling" say the organisers, who view the event's inclusion in the circuit as a major milestone in establishing the race as one of the most distinctive and recognised fixtures on the international trail running calendar.

The fifth stop of the Golden Trail World Series moves the action from Austria to Switzerland for the 53rd edition of Sierre-Zinal, a legendary race featuring 31 kilometres and 2,200 metres of elevation gain.

Defending champions Philemon Kiriago and Caroline Kimutai return to protect their crowns against Elhousine Elazzaoui and Madalina Florea, the reigning series champions and recent winners of the Salomon Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail, held just one week ago.

The iconic Swiss race, which brings together more than 6,800 runners from 86 nationalities, will be broadcast live across Warner Bros. Discovery platforms (HBO Max, Eurosport and TNT Sports), as well as through an extensive network of international broadcasters.
